Christiano is back at Planet Drum as part of his 2009 European tour!

Christiano has toured and recorded with John Patitucci, Eric Marienthal, Paulinho da Costa and many others. This 3 hour masterclass will explore Bossa Nova, Samba, Baion (Xote, Frevo, rhythms of Northeast Brazil), Samba Reggae (Olodum, Bahia),and Jequibau (odd meter Samba).

Born in São Paulo (Brazil), on January 27, 1970, Christiano started his music education with Ronaldo Basbaum at the age of 14. In 1996, he studied at Drummers Collective, NY, where he completed the Advanced Certificate Program (having classes with: Kim Plainfield, Mike Clark, Ricky Sebastian, Bobby Sanabria, Frank Katz and Zach Danziger). He has played, toured and recorded with Zezo Ribeiro, Eugénia Melo e Castro, Eric Marienthal, Paulinho da Costa, John Patitucci, Dori Caymmi, Heitor T.P., Elba Ramalho, Chico Buarque, Adriana Calcanhotto, Carles Benavent, Amilson Godoy, Arte Viva Orchestral, among others. Christiano also takes part in recording sessions for commercial jingles and soundtracks. Apart from recording and touring, he also gives clinics, masterclasses and courses in several schools throughout the country. In 2006 he released a drum book on brazilian rhythms called “Bateria Brasileira” and recorded his first album, “Ritmismo”, along with Adriana Godoy, André Geraissati, André Olzon, Arthur Maia, Celio Barros, Cláudio Machado, Derico Sciotti, Djalma Lima, Edu Ardanuy, Emílio Mendonça, Eugénia Melo e Castro, Fábio Augusto, Fábio Luchs, Fábio Zaganin, Giba Favery, José Roberto Gaia, Marcelo Pizarro, Marcos Romera, Mozart Mello, Newton Carneiro, Teco Cardoso, Torcuato Mariano, Walmir Gil, Wander Taffo and Zezo Ribeiro.
