Merijn Royaards has been described as "Holland's favourite export" and "a gem of a drummer" by his fellow musicians. Merijn relocated to London to further his career as an artist and has worked extensively with Planet Drum since 2007.

Merijn is currently the drummer for Crippled Black Phoenix . The band is going on a major tour at the end of October 2009.

This masterclass will mainly deal with dance music and Breakbeat. Merijn will demonstrate and teach his way of applying rudiments to the drum set. He will also demonstrate his use of "linear" drumming, and will teach rhythms and fills used in the tracks ‘Fifths’ by ‘Ski’, and ‘Aqua Mineral’ by ‘Sfeq’.
